We Were Here definitely feels like a first outing, but that means that you will be able to see the growth when you move onto We Were Here Too and We Were Here Together. The game is short, clocking in at about 90 minutes to two hours, but what is here is gripping and for a game clearly made on a budget, TMG Studios has done a lot with a simple formula. The co-op puzzle-solving is unlike anything I have played before and it all takes place in a fantastic looking castle, with some great atmosphere. With two more games left to review in the franchise, We Were Here shows a lot of promise for the series, with its unique puzzles and an idea that clicks almost instantly. A Solid First Entry With A Lot Of Promise For Its Two Sequels Music also has a tendency to end and just repeat itself over and over, which did get a little annoying. Unfortunately, the conclusion leaves a lot to be desired and the cutscenes that are here, alongside the few cinematics, are blocky and feel like they have been blown up from a smaller resolution. The task is to find the way out of the castle by solving various puzzles from a perspective of a Lord and his Peasant. Now you can try out the sequel, titled We Were Here Too, which offers a more advanced co-op puzzle experience for two players. Similarly, in the moments where there is a threat or a time limit, you are given enough time to learn what to do and checkpoints are generous. About a year ago, indie developer Total Mayhem Games released free-to-play puzzle game We Were Here. The game also manages to maintain its challenge without ever feeling impossible, with each of the puzzles making you think but never asking too much of you. But, the creepy atmosphere of the castle is really bolstered by the fact that you will see creatures or spooky threats in the background as you are solving puzzles. However, some sections of this building end up in a dead-end and feel out of place from the well-designed level around the corner in question. The castle you are exploring in We Were Here looks great and the environments have great texture quality and atmosphere. The cutscenes that are here and the presentation as a whole feels a bit lacking, but I can’t criticise TMG Studios too much for this as the game was very clearly made on a limited budget and they have probably done the best they could. The wrapping around this gameplay experience is less thrilling and has some issues. A Presentational Mish-Mash Of The Good And The Bad The way you are asked to communicate and discuss possible solutions, figuring things out on the fly and avoiding danger in the situations where it is present is thrilling. Playthrough "3" - Player who did not get secret achievement will acquire it.These puzzles are not anything mind-blowing, but they are inventive and I haven’t seen a multiplayer game create situations quite like We Were Here does. Playthrough 2 - Complete game with 0 mistakes or deaths, get opposite ending achievement. Playthrough 1 - Familiarize yourself with game, Explorer gets secret achievement So your playthroughs will look like this: Make sure to add your partner to your friends list before you invite them to the game as there is an achievement for that as well. I recommend saving this for the second playthrough, as you are more familar with the game, and can also get the secret achievement which will nullify a perfect play on the puzzle it's located in. There is also an achievement tied to each puzzle for completing it without ever inputing the wrong answer, called a "perfect play", as well as going through the entire game without dying and also solving every puzzle without making a mistake on any of them. Product Marketing Manager, Xbox 7:00am November 15 will mark 20 years of gaming together Fans helped shape what Xbox is today and we can’t wait to see what the next 20 years will bring. There are 2 achievements for solving each puzzle, one for controlling each role as the puzzle is solved (though the librarian can be idle the whole duration of the puzzle). The game is short when you know the answers to the puzzles so you should be able to knock this out in about an hour or less depending on how good you are at following directions. This game will require two full playthroughs and a partial playthrough at minimum to complete.
